Uptown Central San Antonio

San Antonio Olmos ParkUptown Central is a large and upscale area situated on the north side of San Antonio. It consists of two main areas, Uptown Broadway and Uptown Loop. Uptown Loop is home to nearly five million square-feet of some of the city’s most exclusive retail shopping, elegant dining and upscale boutiques. Uptown Loop is also home to nearly 20 million square-feet of office space.

Uptown Broadway consists of some of the oldest neighborhoods in San Antonio, including Alamo Heights, Lincoln Heights, Olmos Park and Terrell Hills. It is a very wealthy and densely populated area that many celebrities call home. Home prices in the area are a reflection of its upscale ambiance and have been largely immune to the recent drop in market prices. Here, residents enjoy unique Spanish Colonial and ranch-style homes. The recent addition of many high-rise and condo buildings has added a breed of housing to the Uptown Broadway area.

Alamo Heights

Alamo Heights has a population of 7,353 with a median age of 40 years. The median home price is $341,600 and the median annual income of a family is $77,257. Alamo Heights is serviced by the Alamo Heights Independent School District.

Terrell Hills

Located five miles from downtown, Terrell Hills is a city within a city. It has its own mayor, police force and fire department. Terrell Hills is bordered by Alamo Heights to the west, Fort Sam Houston to the east and San Antonio to the north and south. Like Alamo Heights, it is a very exclusive area.

The average house costs $368,800. The median age of residents is 41.6 years and the median annual family income is $94,702. There are just over 2,000 housing units in Terrell Hills and approximately 5,000 residents. Terrell Hills is serviced by either the Alamo Heights Independent School District or the North East Independent School District depending on the zoning of your residence.

Castle Hills

Castle Hills is an independent city with a population of approximately 4,200. It is completely surrounded by the city of San Antonio and consists of 1,866 households. The median price of a house is $239,000 and the median household income is $64,119.

Castle Hills originated as a missionary outpost and was incorporated by San Antonio in 1951. Many homes in the area are historical and have been preserved accordingly. Ranch-style buildings are common in the area. The bulk of the area’s retail centers are located along Military Highway, and its close proximity to Loop 410 provides quick access to major attractions. Castle Hills is serviced by the North East Independent School District.
