The Northwest area of San Antonio is one of the fastest growing areas in the city. Many new homes and subdivisions are in a continual state of construction. Northwest San Antonio features many notable neighborhoods including The Dominion, Fair Oaks Ranch, Helotes and Scenic Oaks. Also on the Northwest side are Alamo Ranch and Sonoma Ranch.
Alamo Ranch
Alamo Ranch has become San Antonio’s largest and most unique master-planned community. Residents of Alamo Ranch enjoy single-family home plans situated in a lush, natural landscape. Its motto is “Where the Hill Country Begins.” The area became an incorporated city in 1981, as San Antonio’s city sprawl encroached on Helotes’ borders.
Scenic Oaks
Scenic Oaks is an 8.3 square-mile Census Designated area in Bexar County comprised of 26 individual neighborhoods. Scenic Oaks is also the name of a subdivision within the greater Scenic Oaks area. Houses in the area are relatively new with a house age well below the state average. The Scenic Oaks subdivision provides a snapshot of an individual neighborhood in the greater Scenic Oaks area. The neighborhood is known for its deer population and numerous speed bumps that keep traffic moving slowly on residential streets.
Sonoma Ranch
Located within mere minutes of the enduring and prosperous Downtown San Antonio, lies the prominent, luxurious and gated community of Sonoma Ranch.
